A Sunrise Secret Proposal in Prague for David & Fabiana
Love, the right moment, and the precise light.
That is how I think of David and Fabiana's morning. It was the quietest kind of Prague, with the city still half asleep and the sun just beginning to touch the stone.
Months in the making
David first wrote to me months before the proposal. He knew he wanted a sunrise secret proposal in Prague, something calm, private and entirely theirs. Fabiana knew nothing.
We planned every detail together: the "yes" place, the route, the timing, and where I would hide. The light was the most important part. A sunrise gives you only a few minutes of that soft golden glow, and you can't ask it to wait. So we planned around it.
I've photographed Prague for years, including five years for Prague City Tourism, so I know the quiet corners and the hours when the city belongs to almost no one.
Shaking hands
On the morning itself, David's hands were shaking. I could see it even from where I was standing. After months of planning, all the careful details were behind him and only the real feeling was left.
I was already in place. Fabiana walked towards the light without knowing I was there. Then David asked, and her whole face changed. First she was surprised, then she couldn't believe it, and then she was simply happy.
I didn't direct anything. I watched, I waited, and I capture that moment.
"It felt like a dream"
Fabiana wrote to me afterwards:
"Eva was super professional and experienced. I had my surprise engagement and it honestly felt like a dream. She was hiding the whole time and I didn't realize until the big moment happened. She captured every single detail and made the pictures feel like a movie. I'm very grateful she was able to capture this special moment for us."
Hearing that I stayed invisible until the very last second is the best compliment I could get. I still get butterflies before every session, and messages like this are the reason.
After the "yes"
When the first tears and hugs had settled, I came out of hiding and we walked together through the waking city. The sun was fully up by then, and the light was warm and low. You can see it in their photographs, in the glow around them, in his smile and in her laughing eyes.
These quiet minutes after the "yes" are often my favourite part of the whole session. They are the real emotions, with no posing and nothing staged.
